Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC.
| MONSTER ABILITIES |
- Increased Strength: As a monster, he is stronger than your average human.
- Underwater Breathing: Thanks to his gills, Jataro is capable of breathing underwater just as naturally as he can breathe on land.
- Water Pressure Resistance: Able to withstand diving to any depth underwater without fear of the pressure killing him or causing him issues on his return to the surface.
- Sharpened Senses: He's able to hear and see just as well underwater as he can on land, not hindered by the water at all.
- Carapace: The carapace found on most of his body affords him great protection against attacks, both due to how hard and tough it is as well as from the various sharp spines that cover it.
- Antifreeze Blood: Jataro is equipped with the thin, clear blood of the icefish, giving him resistance to cold weather and cold waters. His body can withstand temperatures well below freezing, and it would take encasing him in a solid block of ice to actually harm him with the cold.
- Water Conjuring: Has the ability to create water wherever and whenever he pleases, without needing water in the vicinity to do so.
- Hydrokinesis: Can control and manipulate water with ease.
- Retractable Claws: Thin, clear claws that are razor sharp and shine opalescent in light. They are retractable, and are present on both sets of hands.
- Poison: His claws also come equipped with a poison touch, the poison leaving humans paralyzed and in great pain.
- Water-Responsive Tail: In as little as a puddle of water or the rain, Jataro's legs fuse together to form a lobster tail. This allows him to move faster in the water, but also comes equipped with five sets of lobster legs, allowing him to move easily on land if he's caught in the rain.
- Soothing Singing Voice: With a song, Jataro is able to charm and lure humans.

| WEAKNESSES |
- Thirst: As a mer, Jataro gets thirsty and can dehydrate much easier than a normal monster or a human, and can die if he goes too long without water.
- Antifreeze Blood: Jataro's clear icefish blood lacks hemoglobin completely, and this brings about numerous problems.
Oxygen His body has adapted to how little oxygen he is able to carry through his blood, however breathing on land is still a little difficult for him. It's extremely easy to suffocate him on land. Physical activity on land is also more strenuous on him than it is on normal humans and monsters, and he loses his breath far more easily. (He enjoys frequent dips in deep water, as this allows him to absorb oxygen more easily, both through his gills and his thinner skin.)
Thin Blood Without hemoglobin, his blood is much thinner than usual, and therefor it can be very easy for him to bleed out.
- High Temperatures: With a combination of how easily he dehydrates and his antifreeze blood, he can overheat pretty easily in high temperatures. He prefers shade, being out when there is a cool breeze, or hanging out in water to combat this. (He also doesn't wear any clothing once his carapace fully grows in.)
- Water-Responsive Tail: It takes very little water to trigger this response, which can be very inconvenient at times.

- Body Modification: Tier 1; A set of strong otter teeth replacing his normal human ones.
- Liquid-kinesis: Tier 1 ability; Along with being able to control and manipulate water, he is able to control and manipulate other liquids as well as long as they are water based. He cannot conjure these liquids however - they must be in his vicinity.
- Resurrection: Tier 2; Instantly resurrects in Dyster after being killed.
- Hunger Timer: Has an instinctive knowledge of how long before he's overtaken by hunger.
- Mer Communication: 2017 Nightfall event reward; Jataro is able to telepathically communicate with sea life within a one hundred foot radius of himself.
- Body Modification: Tier 2; A second set of arms located just under his first set, which can function just as well as his natural set of arms.
- Bone and Marrow Feeding: Along with the ability to feed off of a human's energy, Jataro is also able to feed by eating the bones and bone marrow of humans. This does not replace his energy feeding, but offers him a second option.
- Minor Ice Abilities: Tier 2 ability; The ability to freeze water (and liquids that possess a freezing point a few degrees above or below water) and manipulate it how he pleases. He cannot conjure ice of any kind, so there must already be liquid in the vicinity for him to freeze it. (He can, however, conjure water and freeze that freely.)

First Changes (March 1)
✧ Bio Luminescence. Bio luminescent markings appeared on Jataro's face, though it's impossible to tell what they are thanks to his mask. They glow faintly out the eye and mouth holes of the mask.
✨ Thirst. Jataro experiences heightened thirst and drinks water often, when able to. He'll also enjoy snow, icicles and shaved ice if the options are available to him.
✨ Cold Weather Preference. Jataro loves the cold weather and is mostly unaffected by it, no matter how much skin is exposed. He will eventually become too cold, however, and seek shelter so he can warm back up.
✨ Teeth. Fog boon; March 3rd. Pushing out his human teeth one by one, they were replaced by a new set of teeth similar to those of an otter.
Second Changes (March 17)
✧ Carapace. A white and pastel colored carapace has begun growing underneath his skin, causing him to itch in some areas. His skin needs to actively be scratched off to reveal it.
✧ Back fins. Two electric blue fins sprouted on his back, over his shoulder blades. Their shape vaguely resemble a swallowtail butterfly's wings, though they are very, very small right now. Maybe now more than an inch or so long.
✨ Gills. Gills appear on either side of his neck, allowing him to breathe underwater with ease.
✨ Pleopods. Small, electric blue fin-like appendages growing on his arms and legs. There are five on the side of each forearm and calf.
✨ Tail fin. An electric blue, fain-shaped tail fin resembling the tail fin of a lobster grew out of the base of his spine.
✨ Hoarding instinct. Jataro has the instinct to hoard particularly shiny objects (many of which he mugs human adults for) and store them underwater. "Underwater" is currently their bathtub when he can get away with it.
✨ Water powers. He has the ability to conjure and control water at whim.
Third Changes (May 10)
✧ More carapace. More of his carapace is growing in, causing him to itch and scratch until it's free of his skin.
✧ Antifreeze blood. His body is beginning to adapt and change to allow for antifreeze blood, specifically icefish blood. Meaning it will begin to lose hemoglobin and his body will adapt to make up for the loss of oxygen.
- This can cause dizziness and lightheaded-ness at times where his body overcompensates too quickly and causes him to absorb a little more oxygen than needed.
- His lungs, arteries, heart and vein will change and grow to allow more oxygen to exist in his system than before, causing minor aches and pains.
- He will also experience aches and pains from his muscles and tissue changing their make up, allowing them to more easily absorb oxygen.
✨ Webbing between fingers and toes. Along with two lobster like toes on each foot tearing through his feet and replacing his human toes, he grows webbing between his fingers and these new toes.
✨ Water pressure resistance. Jataro is now able to resist water pressure no matter how deep he goes.
Fourth Changes (June; various times)
✨ Second set of arms. Fog Boon. Just under his first set of arms, a second, full set of human arms will grow.
✧ More carapace. Carapace will begin showing up over his back and shoulders, as well as the upper arms of both sets of arms.
✨ Antifreeze blood. Symptoms caused by his body changing to accommodate the new blood type become more obvious and severe.
✨ Fins behind ears. Similar to his tail fin, the fins behind his ears are fan shaped and electric blue as well.
✨ Tail while in water. In deep enough water (tub water, or constant rain water), his legs will fuse together and change to form the tail of a rock lobster. He possesses five sets of segmented legs allowing him to scuttle around on land or the floor underwater if he needs to, as well as hold onto victims better while drowning them.
✨ Sharpened senses while in water. Being underwater doesn't hinder any of his senses the way it might a human or other monster, allowing him to see and hear just as clearly as he can on land.
✨ Hunger for human energy. Jataro will begin craving human energy, obtaining this by drowning his victims.
✨ More bioluminescence. Bioluminescence will begin to appear along the edges of his fins, glowing a bright blue.
✨ Soothing singing voice. Jataro is able to charm humans with a song, luring them to him or after him as long as he's singing.
✨ Retractable claws. On both sets of hands he has a pair of retractable claws. These are thing, razor sharp, and translucent, with an opalescent shimmer in the right light.
✨ Poisonous claws. His retractable claws are also poisonous, able to cause great pain and paralysis in humans that are scratched with them.
